Press Report - THE 25th ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING HELD ON 6TH FEBRUARY 2012
Present: Roger Mee - Chairman
Barbara Brown - Secretary
Gillian Morrell - Treasurer
And 57 members.
Chairman Roger Mee opened the 25th AGM and thanked all members for their support over the last 12 months.
He outlined the RBBA achievements throughout the year, including improvements to the Paperhouse river crossing, widening and strengthening the edge of Woodtop, and Furbarn Lane. He stated that the work carried out was excellent and had improved the paths for all our local countryside users. He hoped that any working parties this year would attract more volunteers, particularly as it is highly unlikely that the Councils will be able to do any work due to government spending cuts
Roger talked about the associations work in progress of improving the path down to the gate at the top of Nabs Wife Farm linking our Ashworth side to Birtle with the help of funding from Councillor Metcalfe’s Township allowance, and also after talks with United Utilities and their generous help to improve the stream crossing at the Ashworth Moor Reservoir Concessionary route. Funds have also been raised to carry out the work needed at Dunham Farm to make that bridlepath safer and more usable in wet weather.
Roger stated that we had now been voted on to the Norden Community Forum which means that the 500 horses that live in the district of Norden , Ashworth and Birtle have local representation and the association can now help with all horse related issues.
The Treasurer reported that income from subscriptions was up due to the large increase in membership during the year. Monies raised from the Le Trec, Treasure Hunt and Photo Show events had greatly contributed to funds .
The Social Sec. thanked everyone for supporting the social functions, which included talks on road safety, towing and the law, The Holcombe Hunt and a fantastic fashion show put on by our local Naylors Equestrian
