AGM 2011

Press release in Rochdale Observer Saturday 12th February 2011

Rochdale & Bury Bridleways Association

The RBBA AGM was held on Jan 31st at the Pack Horse Inn Birtle attended by over 60 members

With now over 430 horses stabled in our local district - playing an important part in the local infrastructure by supporting many local farms and contributing £500,000 into the local ecomomy every year, the association is a key factor in ensuring that all horse owners and riders are well represented within our community
Chairman Gillian Ridings from Norden reported on the Success and Acheivements in 2010 and thanked her committee for all their support throughout the year
Apart from a tremendous social calendar with monthly meetings and guest speakers on all Equine related topics the committee worked hard to ensure established Bridleways are kept clear and open ,and Age Old Bridle tracks for horses  are re-established and maintained
The need to keep horses away from busy roads as much as possible means that all Bridleways are indeed vital
The Association thanked Rochdale MBC for all their help and support with these matters and would like it noted that the Association is always keen to work closely with all Land Owners and Farmers as respect for land has to be of prime importance
Local young riders were helped with sponsorship to attend Road Safety courses in 2010 - for as with all riders - responsible riding on roads and respect for pedestrian pavements is an ongoing aim of the committee
After 3 great years as Chairman, incoming Chairman Roger Mee thanked Gill Ridings for all the hard work and dedication she has given to the association
The next meting will be held at The Pack Horse  Inn Birtle Mon Feb 28 at 8pm  with  guest speaker Alan Brown on O/Survey rural map reading
