Inconsiderate Riding & Meeting re Elbut Lane

posted 16 Oct 2012, 12:18 by Rochdale & Bury Bridleways Association   [ updated 23 Jan 2013, 12:13 ]

Hi everyone

First one is a bit of a nag (sorry) but two girls (one on a coloured pony and one on a bay) have been cantering back & forth along the bottom of Ashworth Reservoir (Ashworth Road end), totally undeterred by people watching them and by the state of the ground as its obviously sodden at the moment.  If it is you or you know who they are can you please ask them to stop.  This route is only given to us on a concessionary basis and some of our members have spent a lot of time and effort getting the route open so please abide by the “No Cantering” rule.  United Utilities have recently agreed to pay half towards a bridge specifically for our members and they are going down to inspect the site this week and are going to be faced with the ground being churned up by these selfish people.

Next, the council have apparently decided that there are not enough residents on Elbut Lane in Birtle to warrant re-surfacing it.  There is a meeting at the Town Hall on 7th November at 6.15 pm.  You can either meet at The Pack Horse or go directly there.  A large turnout might make them realise how important this is.

Thank you for listening.
