Boxing Day Ride - Easter Sunday 2010

The 2009 Boxing Day Ride was postponed due to snow. We successfully had a lovely ride on Easter Sunday 2010 which was attended by 21 of our members. Everyone had a pleasant ride in early April sunshine. All the horses were well behaved. One of our youngest members at 7 years old attended on her 10.2hh pony. There were a total of 5 of our young members under 14 years old attending which was really nice to see.
Whilst out we were able to put into practice the skills that Penny Ridley had so eloquently talked to us about on the previous Monday evening. (Don't forget to Book onto the Road Safety Course we are running at the end of April if you haven't done it before)
By having an on foot person to stop traffic at the bottom of Ashworth Valley Road and by carefully riding two abreast up Bury Road we safely negotiated the only busy part of the ride.
Thanks to the Pack Horse at Birtle who not only put up with 21 horses descending on what must be one of the busiest lunchtime but also supplied us with a super plate of sandwiches and chips which was gratefully ate by all attendees.
